Widely considered one of the top teams in the NA region, Team SoloMid eclipsed its domestic competition by consistently besting their domestic competition throughout Season 2. They've stood on the winner's podium at least once at every major esports event, winning top places at IEM, MLG, IPL, and sweeping the Season 2 NA Regionals. With a dedicated fan base centered on their prolific player streams, frequent invitational tournaments, and content-rich community site, TSM is one of the most recognized names in competitive League of Legends.
Recently, however, TSM has found itself challenged by the best and brightest from Europe, Korea, China, and Taiwan. In particular, the Korean titans Azubu Frost and Azubu Blaze clashed with TSM several times in recent events, each meeting resulting in a TSM defeat. With overseas competition stronger than ever before, there are those who wonder if TSM's struggles are indicative of a general downward trend for North American pro teams.
But TSM is poised to offer some of the best resistance to foreign competitive domination. Their lineup is one of the most stable, coordinated, and talented in the region. After their early elimination in the Season 2 World Playoffs, they rallied and began preparing for a new level of competitive play. Season 3 will show whether the new and improved TSM can hold their own against not only new upstarts on the NA scene, but their old rivals from across the seas as well.
